Last Chance

This was my last chance to stop Dimmsdale from making a huge mistake
This was my last chance to hide the truth from the towns people
This was my last chance to stop Hester from making the second biggest mistake yet
If only I had succeeded with my last chance

 Just as Hester made her way up to the scaffold, I escaped from the crowd and told Dimmsdale:

"Madman, hold! What is your purpose ? Wave back that women! Cast off this child! all shall be well! Do not blacken your fame, and perish in dishonor! I can yet save you! Would you bring infamy on your sacred profession?" (398)

Dimmsdale's reaction-help Hester up onto the scaffold! That man is crazy. I can't help him anymore. He will certainly perish in shame now!
